Nowadays this is going on, and that is why the so-called gurus are falling down. They think there is no need for the guru-parampara. They say, "Only my Gurudeva! Gurudeva! Gurudeva!" Who is your Gurudeva, and from where did he come? From where did he receive his knowledge? They should know this, but they do not. They think, "My Gurudeva is the first Guru and the last Guru." If a disciple has no connection with the guru-parampara, he is actually an offender to his own Gurudeva. Although Srila Swami Maharaja taught this principle, many ISKCON disciples never learned them.

Today is the first day of Kartika, the first day of our Urja-vrata (a vow taken for the happiness of Srimati Radhika), niyama seva (the following of certain prescribed regulations) and Damodara-vrata. Today is also Saradiya-Purnima, the day leading to the full moon night, when Lord Sri Krsna began His performance of the Rasa Dance.
Today is also the disappearance day of my Gurudeva, nitya-lila pravista om visnupada Sri Srimad Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja.
