Nigerian midfielder Garba Lawal has signed a two year contract with Swedish premier league side Elfsborg.
He joins on a free transfer from Bulgaria's Levski Sofia.
Lawal, who has a 1996 Olympic gold medal and two World Cup finals to his credit, is one of several highly-rated players who will be starring in this year's Swedish Championship that gets under way next month.
He follows fellow Nigerian international Justice Christopher to Sweden after he recently joined league newcomers Trelleborg.
Elfsborg's coach Stefan Andersson is very happy with his new signing.
"His record speaks for itself," said a joyous Andersson.
"Garba is just the right man for us, we need a great left footer in our team.
"He will add more strength to our young squad," he said.
He also pointed out that Lawal has shown fantastic leadership abilities at his former clubs.
Elfsborg has been tracking the 29-year old player for a while.
"We first heard about him through Swedish player Fredrik Berglund who played with him at Dutch side Roda JC," he said.
Andersson said his club expressed interest when it heard that the player was available.
