'Army Wives' Actress's Rambling Speech -- Kim Delaney made a rambling speech Thursday night at a ceremony honoring former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in Philadelphia. The “Army Wives” actress was eventually escorted off the stage. The actress appeared slightly disheveled as she attempted to read prepared remarks off a teleprompter, video from an ABC affiliate shows. Delaney said, “I've seen soldiers come home with painful life-altering injuries borne of their time and service,” and “I’ve attended numerous military funerals, including that of my best friend's son.” She then told the audience, who appeared a little confused, that she was just pretending as her military wife character, Claudia Joy Holden. “It’s all make believe. First, the big news: Leading lady Kim Delaney, who has played Claudia Joy Holden since the Lifetime drama launched six years ago, will not be returning — like, ever. Exec producer Jeff Melvoin confirms to TVLine that her character (who is currently travelling overseas) will be killed off in the season premiere — a tragedy that will serve as a launching pad for an almost rebooted program.
