Typecast is a Filipino Emo/Alternative-Punk band originally from the Laguna Punk/Emo scene.
Typecast was formed in the year 2000 in the province of Laguna. They were originally a quartet doing cover songs, and eventually started making their originals. As they were gathering more listeners with their increasing fame, two members left leaving them the option to obtain a new guitarist. This was later done in the inclusion of Steve Frank Badiola who did both vocals and the guitar. Recently, as of the release of their new album, the band has added another guitarist, Frank Fletchero, and in effect, Typecast is a quartet again.
Typecast released their debut CD Last Time, which is an independent release. The lead single of the album, also entitled Last Time, got the group into guesting in the radio station NU107's program In The Raw. Since then, their fame rocketed upward, primarily in the underground music scene. They were already performing in large musical events such as the Fete de la Musique 2005, and also did the opening act for the foreign band Good Charlotte in the latter band's Manila tour. The band, along with other famous Filipino rock bands like Kamikazee, Kjwan and Moonstar88; was also included in the compilation album Rok On! for Philippine Ragnarok Online.

Career
[edit]Laguna has been home to hardcore punk bands since the early 1990s. Brought up in a DIY community, the band came together in 1999, initially doing cover versions, after that they started doing their own songs. In 2004, they released their debut studio album, The Infatuation Is Always There, which paved their way to become one of the most influential rock bands in Southeast Asia.[1]
With the release of their second studio album, Every Moss and Cobweb, in 2007, the band changed their sound from gritty to melancholic lyrics that turned out to be emo.
The band broke into the local mainstream with the single "Will You Ever Learn", which won Best Song of the Year at the 2007 NU Rock Awards.[2] This success eventually led to the opportunity to open for other popular bands such as Thursday, Darkest Hour, Good Charlotte, Saosin, Anberlin, All Time Low, Dashboard Confessional, The Used, and Cobra Starship.
In March 2013, Steve Badiola recorded a tribute to Karl Roy with Daniel Ian entitled "Missed". The track
